Reactive oxygen species are the elements responsible for the oxidation of pathogens and tissue inflammation, however, an imbalance with the reducing features, Oxidative Stress (OS) occurs, which results in chronic inflammation and triggers neurodegenerative diseases and cancer. It also regulates the immune response that responds to proliferation, metastasis, and neoplastic chemoresistance. However, studies on serum and systemic OS triggered by brain cancer are missing. This study investigated circulating levels of oxidative stress markers in blood and Cerebrospinal Fluid (CSF) samples from patients diagnosed with primary CNS cancer.
